🔎 Cigar Finder: Discover the Perfect Stick
Filter by size, strength, price, and origin — your store just got a sommelier.
Meet the TORO Cigar Finder — a brand-new discovery tool built for employees helping customers (or for your own curiosity). Open it from the Employee menu and you’ll see every cigar in your inventory laid out in a filterable grid. Slide the
Length,
Ring Gauge, and
Price range sliders to narrow things down. Tap the strength pills — Mild, Mild-Medium, Medium, Medium-Full, Full — to toggle them on or off. Check boxes for Country of Origin, Wrapper, Binder, and Filler to zero in on exactly the right profile.
Click any result and a detail card appears on the right with all the cigar’s attributes and available SKUs.
The killer feature: hit
Set Account and pick a customer. The Cigar Finder analyzes their purchase history — what strengths they buy, what sizes they lean toward, their price range, and their preferred origins — and pre-fills every filter to match. The header updates to show the customer’s name and a subtitle like “Showing cigars matching [Name]’s preferences.” It’s a personalized recommendation engine built right into the POS.
How to activate: EMPLOYEE MENU → Cigar Finder (or from the Account Favorites screen via the personalized Cigar Finder button)
⭐ Account Favorites: Redesigned from Scratch
Your best customers deserve a screen that looks as good as they are.
The Account Favorites screen got the full TORO treatment. When you pull up a customer’s favorites, you’ll now see a polished, card-based layout with teal accents, gradient backgrounds, and clean typography. Filter by time period using pill buttons (All Time, Last Year, 6 Months, 30 Days, or Since Membership) and narrow by product category with the dropdown.
The real addition is the
Cigar Profile panel on the right side. TORO analyzes the customer’s recent cigar purchases and builds a flavor profile: their preferred strength, favorite sizes (ranked with percentages), price range, and top country of origin. Below the profile, a personalized
“[Name]’s Cigar Finder” button launches the Cigar Finder with all their preferences pre-loaded.
Want the numbers instead? Click
View Customer Statistics and the right column swaps to a grid of stat cards — transaction count, averages, discounts, totals — all for the selected time period.
How to activate: Automatic — open any customer’s Favorites from Account Information or the Account Finder
🍸 Tab System: Rebuilt from the Ground Up
Move items between tabs, merge tabs, edit everything inline — tabs finally work the way a lounge needs them to.
The tab system got its biggest upgrade ever. The old screen had too many buttons and not enough flexibility. The new one has four clean buttons with icons, and all the power lives inside the
Tab Viewer.
Open any tab’s viewer and you’ll see everything at a glance: the financial summary (subtotal, discounts, tax, total, payments made, amount still due), plus edit buttons right next to the tab name, assigned employee, card type, location, and customer account. Click any of them to change it on the spot. There’s also a notes field that auto-saves — perfect for jotting down “extra shot of espresso” or “waiting for friend.”
The big one: moving items between tabs. Customer at Table 5 wants to join friends at Table 3? Select the items, tap
Move Items, pick the destination tab, done. Payments follow automatically. If you move everything out of a tab, it closes itself. No more voiding and re-ringing.
Need to pick which tab to move items to? The new
Tab Picker shows all open tabs with their locations. Double-click to select.
How to use: OPEN TABS → select a tab → TAB VIEWER → select items → MOVE ITEMS
📈 Item Pricing History
See every price change that ever happened to any item — who changed it, when, and why.
Ever wonder why a cigar’s price is different from what you remember setting? Now you can find out. Open any item’s details and click
View Pricing History for Item. You’ll see a complete timeline of every cost and retail change: the old price, the new price, who made the change, and where it came from (Item Details, SKU Editor, Purchase Order, Bulk Pricing, or Auto Pricing).
Filter by specific SKU using the pill buttons at the top, or toggle
Active SKUs Only to hide discontinued packaging. It’s the full audit trail you’ve always wanted.
How to access: ITEM DETAILS → VIEW PRICING HISTORY FOR ITEM
📦 Manufacturer Changed: One-Click SKU Swap
When your vendor changes the box count, TORO handles the rest.
It happens all the time — a manufacturer changes a 20-count box to 25, or bumps the price on a new production run. Previously, you’d have to manually create a new SKU, re-link everything, and deactivate the old one. Now there’s a button for it.
Open the item in Advanced View and click
Manufacturer Changed. TORO asks two questions: how many items in the new package, and what’s the new cost. It does the math on per-unit pricing, creates the new master SKU, points all related SKUs to the new one, and deactivates the old one. Three clicks and you’re done.

📝 Grammar & Spell Check for Item Descriptions
No more typos on the sales floor.
Item descriptions and notes now have built-in spell and grammar checking. As you type, spelling errors get a red underline, grammar issues get teal, and style suggestions get orange. Click any underlined word to see fix suggestions — tap one to apply it instantly.
There’s also a manual
Spell Check button if you want to scan the whole text at once. A character counter keeps you honest on length.
This feature is part of the Grammar & Spell Check module. If you don’t have it yet, TORO will offer you a free trial when you first encounter it.

⚡ Inventory Reports: Faster Than Ever
The cache that powers your reports just got a complete engine swap.
Every inventory-based report in TORO — Inventory Valuation, Aging, Turnover, Reorder Point, Business Valuation — relies on knowing how much of each item you have on hand. That data used to live in a file on your computer that could go stale. Now it lives in your database and stays in memory while TORO is running.
What does that mean for you? Reports load faster, the data is fresher, and you’ll never see that “cache is stale” warning again. The refresh process is simpler too — one click, one progress bar, done.
🔔 Automatic Shutdown Warnings
No more surprise restarts in the middle of a sale.
If your store has automatic overnight restarts configured, TORO now gives you a heads-up before it happens. You’ll see warning popups at 30, 15, 5, and 1 minute before shutdown, showing exactly when it’s coming and giving you time to finish what you’re doing. The warning stays on top of any other windows so your employee won’t miss it.
If the system just restarted and it’s close to the shutdown window, TORO is smart enough to push the next shutdown to tomorrow so you don’t get caught in a restart loop.

🚀 Faster Startup
Get to the register faster.
TORO now loads significantly faster on startup. We cut out redundant work that was slowing things down and moved non-essential checks to the background so they don’t hold up the main screen. The splash screen now shows more detail during loading — you’ll see exactly which module is being checked (“Checking Module 3 of 12: SMS Module”) instead of a generic progress bar.

💤 Daily Reboot Reminder
Your POS computer needs a nap too.
If your computer hasn’t been restarted in 24 hours or more, TORO now shows a friendly popup on startup letting you know it’s time. The popup includes a
Reboot Now button and instructions for rebooting the credit card terminal too. Keeping your system fresh means fewer slowdowns and fewer weird glitches — this reminder makes sure it actually happens.
